As recently reported in the Otago Daily Times Netsafe are warning there is an increase in a number of fake invoice scams. The scams often target the accounts payable or admin section of a business asking for payment of an invoice for services or products that have not been purchased often claiming invoice is overdue and threatening further action. It is good practice to not to open attachments from unfamiliar companies and to ensure a procedure for approving payment of invoices is in place.
